Cold Weather Tips for Your Unit.

  • Check your thermostat for accuracy.
    • locate your home's thermostat and tape an accurate thermometer on the wall next A to it. Wait 15 minutes and check the temperature reading on both devices. variance of +/- 3˚F is generally acceptable, but anything outside that range means your previously accurate thermostat may require service.
  • Keep thermostat temperature preset.
    • Set your thermostat to "auto" and not on "fan.""
    • You can save energy and keep your costs in check by keeping your thermostat at 68 degrees Fahrenheit during the daytime.
    • Change your air filters
    • With a clogged air filter, the air won't flow over the coils correctly, which makes them stop working and leads to total system failure.
    • Turn off your furnace. Find and locate your furnace filter. Determine the size of your filter. Remove the existing (old) filter. Insert the new filter. Return furnace to "on" position.
